Boat House named top scenic dining spot

TIVERTON – The Boat House Restaurant, a Newport Restaurant Group seafood spot on the banks of the Sakonnet River, has been named one of the top 100 Scenic View Restaurants in the United States in OpenTable Diners’ Choice Awards.

The Boat House was the only Rhode Island restaurant – and one of only four in New England – to earn a spot on the list.

“We are honored with the accolade and thank all of our guests for voting,” said general manager Jason Cieto in a statement. “We strive to provide our guests with the freshest seafood, local produce, and exceptional service.”

The winners were chosen from more than five million OpenTable diner reviews for more than 15,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The winners are restaurants that received the highest review scores between July 2011 and June 2012.

Top of the Hub in Boston, Mass., Seaglass Restaurant and Lounge in Salisbury, Mass. and Harbor Lights in East Norwalk, Conn. were the only other New England winners.

“This list of winning restaurants is much more than a gourmet guidebook for travelers,” Caroline Potter, OpenTable CEO, said in a statement. “It also represents the very best way for hometown foodies to get in touch with the natural beauty and local bounty of the dining destinations in which they dwell.”

OpenTable, based in San Francisco, Calif., is a free, real-time restaurant reservation website for diners that also gives restaurants reservation and guest management solutions. Since 1998 it has seated 325 million diners in the United States, Canada, Germany, Japan, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
