BofA to close 4 more Mass. branches

BOSTON – Bank of America Corp. has detailed plans to close four additional branches in Massachusetts, reported the Boston Globe.

The Bank of America plans to close branches at Center Plaza in Boston, Chace Road in Freetown, Court Street in Plymouth and North Main Street in Springfield, according to the news source. There are also plans to close a drive-up window at a branch on Main Street in Westfield.

The four Massachusetts closings are part of a previously-announced plan that includes closing 750 of its nearly 5,700 branches and a loss of at least 30,000 jobs.

Despite the closings, Bank of America will still have more branches than any other bank in the Bay State, reported the Globe.

Citizens Bank had 10 fewer offices than Bank of America in June, down from a gap of more than 50 offices in 2009. According to the news source, however, many of the Citizens Bank branches are smaller offices located within supermarkets.
