Bridge collects 4 tons of e-waste at recycling drive

EAST GREENWICH –In its latest electronics recycling drive, Bridge Technical Solutions collected 3.94 tons of e-waste.
By the end of the Sept. 15 drive – Bridge’s fourth such drive – the company had collected 7,877 pounds of televisions, computers, monitors and other electronic waste.
“E-waste continues to be a growing environmental issue, as electronic equipment and computers consistently end up in landfills,” said a Bridge release announcing the results of the drive.
“These materials can seep hazardous substances into the ground soil and drinking water,” said the release. “Bridge’s biannual e-waste drive tradition helps reduce the amount of electronic waste that ends up in our community landfills.”
In addition to all of the waste, which will be properly recycled, Bridge collected $1,545 in matched donations for a $3,090 donation to the First Lutheran Church of East Greenwich.
The company plans to hold its next e-waste drive in the spring of 2013.
