TAUNTON – Bristol County Savings Bank, through its charitable foundation, will award grants totaling $80,000 to 12 Pawtucket-area nonprofits.
There will be a ceremony on March 30 at 8:30 a.m. at the Pawtucket Country Club, 900 Armistice Blvd., Pawtucket. Patrick J. Murray Jr., president of the Bristol County Savings Bank Charitable Foundation and president and CEO of BCSB, and Pawtucket Mayor Donald R. Grebien will offer remarks.
Bristol County Savings Bank established the BCSB Charitable Foundation-Pawtucket Advisory Board in 2001 at the grand opening of the bank’s Pawtucket branch in an effort to demonstrate the bank’s commitment to its new market. At that time, $1 million in funding was provided to the foundation to provide grants to various nonprofit organizations in the city of Pawtucket. Since its inception, BCSCF has donated more than $2.5 million to Pawtucket-area organizations.
Since the foundation began, close to $16 million in grants have been gifted to hundreds of nonprofits, with particular emphasis in the areas of education and literacy, economic development and housing for low- to moderate-income families. In 2015, the BCSCF awarded $1.7 million to various 501c (3) organizations.
