Bristol County Savings Bank awarded grants totaling $33,500 to five nonprofit organizations in the New Bedford and Dartmouth areas during a ceremony which took place recently at the bank’s branch in New Bedford.
The organizations that received the checks from the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation include: Alma del Mar Foundation, $3,500; Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Bedford/Wareham, $10,000; New Bedford Star Kids Scholarship Program, $5,000; Old Dartmouth Historical Society/New England Whaling Museum, $10,000; and YWCA of Southeastern Massachusetts, $5,000.
“Just as the bank has long made it a priority to invest in the region, the not-for-profit organizations in Greater New Bedford that we assisted here today are also building a stronger community in a variety of ways,” said Patrick J. Murray Jr., president of the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation and president and CEO of Bristol County Savings Bank. “We couldn’t be more proud to help support their respective missions.”
Last year, the foundation awarded $1.3 million to various nonprofits in the Greater Attleboro/Taunton and New Bedford area and the Pawtucket area. Since the foundation began, more than $12 million has been awarded to nonprofits locally. •
