Bristol County Savings gives $62K

TAUNTON – The Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation has awarded grants totaling $62,000 to 13 Pawtucket area nonprofits and other organizations.
Patrick J. Murray, Jr., president of the foundation and president and CEO of the bank, made the award presentations, along with representatives from the foundation’s Pawtucket advisory board and the bank’s Pawtucket branch, in early August during a ceremony at McCoy Stadium, home of the Pawtucket Red Sox.
Award recipients are: Children’s Friend and Service, and Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, $7,500 each; Bishop Keough Regional High School, $7,000; Books Are Wings, $6,500; Old Slater Mill Association, $6,000; The Arc of Blackstone Valley, $5,300; and the Sandra Feinstein – Gamm Theatre and the URI Foundation on behalf of the First Star URI Academy, $5,000 each.
Aslo: Camp Ruggles, Inc., $4,000; Arts Marketplace – Pawtucket and the Exchange Street Open Studio Plus, $2,500 each; Pawtucket Soup Kitchen, $2,000; and St. Cecilia School, $1,200.
“I don’t think the Foundation has ever presented so many grants at one time in Pawtucket,” said Murray. “That tells me that there are more and more organizations doing their best to make a positive impact in and around the city.
“Being a community bank, it is a core principle of ours to support the communities we serve, so we look forward to seeing firsthand the good work these not-for-profits will do throughout the greater Pawtucket Region with the grants provided,” he added.
The foundation has donated over $2.3 million to organizations in the Pawtucket area since its inception in 1996.
