TAUNTON – Bristol County Savings Bank, through its charitable foundation, awarded grants totaling $64,450 to eight Taunton area nonprofit organizations in early January.
The awards were made during a ceremony at the bank’s main office at 35 Broadway.
“In keeping with our mission as a community bank, we feel it is vitally important to support local nonprofit organizations that are doing all they can to make a positive impact in the neighborhoods we also serve,” said Patrick J. Murray Jr., foundation president and bank president and CEO. “Those we assisted are all building a stronger community in different ways and, as a result, continually inspire us to do our part.”
The organizations that received the checks from the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation are: Associates for Human Services Inc., $7,200; Boys & Girls Club of Taunton, $10,500; CCBC Properties Inc., $7,500; Executive Service Corps of New England, $10,000; Greater Taunton Community Services Center, $10,000; Justice Resource Institute Inc., $3,750; Taunton Area School to Career, $10,500 and Triumph Inc., $5,000.
The foundation also donated $26,000 to four New Bedford, Mass., area nonprofit organizations during a ceremony at the bank’s branch office at 1307 Ashley Boulevard in New Bedford. The organizations that received funds are: Alma del Mar Foundation, $7,500; New Bedford public schools, $3,500; New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, $5,000; and the YWCA of Southeastern Massachusetts, $10,000.
The bank’s foundation was established in 1996 as part of the bank’s 150th anniversary to fund needs that contribute to the well-being of the people and institutions located in the greater Attleboro/Taunton region, the greater New Bedford/Dartmouth region, the Fall River region and the Pawtucket region.
The foundation emphasizes the areas of education and literacy, economic development and housing for the low- to moderate-income population, committing more than $14 million to hundreds of different nonprofit organizations since its inception.
The bank was founded in 1846.
