BOSTON – Single family home sales in Bristol County, Mass, fell 12 percent in March compared with the same period last year while the median sales price rose 3 percent, The Warren Group said Tuesday.
The real estate tracking firm reported 192 single-family homes sold in Bristol County during March, down from 219 in March of 2011.
The March median sales price in the county rose to $216,000, up from $210,100 last March.
The Bristol County sales figures ran against the statewide current, as total Massachusetts single-family home sales jumped 19 percent in March, ending the strongest first quarter of sales since 2007.
While sales volume rose, the statewide median sales price dropped 3 percent to $260,000.
“Starting the year with a strong first quarter is a good indicator of things to come," said The Warren Group CEO Timothy M. Warren Jr.
“After such a depressed year of sales in 2011, we're likely to see more positive year-over-year comparisons in months to come," he added. “The market has a good head of steam built up right now."
In other areas of the market, Bristol County condominium sales dropped 8 percent in March compared with 2011. The median condominium sales price dropped 21 percent to $112,500.
