Brown, IE Business School now to offer joint business degree

PROVIDENCE – Brown University has decided to offer a joint master’s degree in business administration through its joint program with the IE Business School in Madrid.

Adding a Brown degree to the degree previously conferred only by the Spanish school, the new IE Brown Executive Master of Business Administration program is set to begin in March 2015. Members of the Class of 2016 will be the first able to earn it. The Brown Corporation approved the change on Friday.

The initial collaboration between the two universities, in which graduates studied at both schools but earned a master’s degree only from the IE Business School, was announced in 2010 and launched in 2011.

Founded in 1973, the IE Business School provides undergraduate, masters, doctoral studies and executive education. The school incorporates humanities into business education using a blend of online and face-to-face learning. More than 40,000 IE alumni hold management positions in 125 countries.

“The complex nature of today’s business world requires an interdisciplinary perspective,” said Brown University President Christina H. Paxson. “Through this new joint degree, IE and Brown are each bringing a distinctive set of strengths together to educate international business leaders in a way that will fully prepare them for the ever-changing landscape of the global economy.”
