PROVIDENCE – The Hunter Laboratory renovation at Brown University received a “gold award” recently from the Design-Build Institute of New England.
The design award was one of four bestowed on Dec. 10 by the organization, which recognizes excellence in integrated design-build projects.
The project, completed by Gilbane Building Co. and Toshiko Mori Architect, of New York, transformed a historic, four-story facility on the Brown campus into modern laboratories, classrooms and faculty offices. The building is 42,000 square feet.
Other projects recognized by the Design-Build Institute were: Kenneth F. Burns Memorial Bridge, Shrewsbury and Worcester, Mass.; Kendrick Place mixed-use building in Amherst, Mass.; and Kent School Music and Mattison Auditorium, Kent, Conn.
