Bryant Zhuhai students visiting U.S., Statehouse trip on agenda

SMITHFIELD – Eighty-seven students from Bryant University’s Bryant Zhuhai campus in China have embarked on a weeklong visit to the United States as part of the Sophomore International Experience program, the school said Aug. 3.

President Ronald K. Machtley said it was an honor to welcome them to campus.

“Seeing you here at Bryant, just one year after you began this transformational experience, just makes me so proud,” he added.

Smithfield campus faculty will teach the students about U.S. business culture, mass media and politics.

In addition, the students will visit the Statehouse and meet with Providence Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. Before returning to China the students will travel to Boston; New Haven, Conn.; New York City and Washington, D.C.

The 87 students represent more than half of the 160-student inaugural class of Bryant Zhuhai, who began their studies on campus in September. These students are enrolled in a four-year undergraduate program taught in English and will receive a Bryant University degree upon completion of the academic program.
