Bryant appoints new College of Business dean

SMITHFIELD – Madan Annavarjula has been appointed dean of Bryant’s College of Business after a nationwide search.
Annavarjula has been the associate dean of the College of Business for two years. He also led Bryant’s International Business program, where he established the International Business Practicum, a hands-on project pairing seniors with advisers and regional companies to conduct market research and develop strategies to meet companies’ goals.
“Madan’s appointment as dean of the College of Business positions the university with deep expertise in international business. His passion for helping students understand the interconnectedness of cultures and economies has helped elevate Bryant to a top-ranked institution where students from around the world come to learn and prepare themselves for success in the global arena,” University Provost Glenn Sulmasy said in prepared remarks.
Said Bryant University President Ronald K. Machtley, “Today’s students graduate into a world of unprecedented change and complexity, and Dr. Annavarjula has been a leader in creating innovative Bryant programs that prepare students with the global perspective that is a prerequisite for success.”
Annavarjula is replacing Interim Dean V.K. Unni.

Annavarjula, who has worked for Bryant since 2006, received Bryant’s Excellence in Teaching Award.
Annavarjula received his doctorate in international business from Temple University’s Fox School of Business in 1998; his master’s of business administration degree in marketing management from India’s Karnatak University in 1985; and his bachelor of science degree from India’s Gulbarga University in 1982.

Bryant’s bachelor of science in international business program is one of the few in the country to offer concentrations in business functions including accounting, computer information systems, entrepreneurship, finance, global supply chain management, management and marketing, according to the university.
