Bryant opens redesigned Fisher student center

SMITHFIELD – Bryant University has opened a redesigned student center, dedicated this fall as the Michael E. and Karen L. Fisher Student Center.
The Fisher Student Center is named to recognize the leadership and generosity of Michael Fisher former managing director and CEO of a division of Barclays Global Investors, and his wife Karen. Michael Fisher is in his second term as a Bryant University trustee and currently serves as chairman of Bryant’s Board of Trustees.
Bryant University President Ronald K. Machtley celebrated the grand opening of the center with special events held on the Bryant campus on Sept. 26 and 27.
The three-story building reflects a space that has been redesigned to better serve the needs of Bryant’s growing student population, which represents 33 states and 85 countries. It provides the versatile space and technology to support a variety of distinctive educational experiences – spaces for students to collaborate, hone leadership skills, give presentations and performances, communicate with fellow students and faculty worldwide, and foster a sense of community.
Students were active participants in the center’s design, working with Bryant leadership and architectural and design firm Ewing Cole. •
