Burock named Miriam Physician of the Year

PROVIDENCE – Dr. Jeffrey Burock was recently honored as the Charles C.J. Carpenter M.D. Outstanding Physician of the Year at The Miriam Hospital. The award recognizes a physician for outstanding contributions to the field of medicine, in addition to a high degree of professionalism and patient care.

Miriam’s chief medical officer, Dr. Thomas Tracy Jr., said that Burock shows an abundance of insight in his care for patients.

“The expert comprehensive care that Dr. Burock gives his patients is evidence of his keen ability to know when care should extend beyond the diagnosis and treatment of a patient’s mental health issues,” said Thomas F. Tracy Jr., M.D., chief medical officer and senior vice president of medical affairs at The Miriam. “It’s critical to also recognize and consider the intricate relationship and balance that can exist between a patient’s emotional and medical illnesses while seeking to provide complete patient care.”

Burock is a geriatric psychiatrist with expertise in Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, delirium, post-stroke complications and a list of mental illnesses that includes schizophrenia.
