Business Women: The best R.I. has to offer on display

Where to begin with the superlatives? Now 7j14
years old, PBN’s Business Women Awards program is one of the hottest tickets in the business community every spring. You cannot move in the pre-luncheon reception, there are so many people in attendance, and despite the crush, there isn’t an attendee who isn’t in a great mood.
And why not? The happening showcases 26 women who either have been profiled in the last 12 months or who were chosen specifically for this event. Their stories aren’t just “good news.” They are inspiring.
Nonprofit CEOs, entrepreneurs, corporate attorneys, all the women you will see profiled in the pages of this special section are standouts in their fields. Southern New England is so fortunate to have them living and working here, because if they were not doing so, we would all be the poorer for it.
Almost as inspiring as the stories, however, is the camaraderie that the winners display when they come to the event. The networking is serious, the atmosphere fun. The honorees and their friends and family (it’s great to see so many of the winners bring their mothers to the event) are having a great time, and I’m sure that they all leave the lunch with a glow that lasts for days.
This event, as all PBN events, would not be possible without the support supplied by our sponsors. In the case of Business Women, we cannot talk about the program without mentioning Bank Rhode Island, which has been the presenting sponsor from the beginning. It is an investment the bank has made in the community and one that has returned value many times over.
This year our partner sponsors for Business Women are the Bryant University Executive Development Center, Cox Business, CVS Caremark Corp., LGC&D and USI Insurance Services. And our media sponsor is AM790.
If you were able to attend this year’s event (or any of the previous Business Women luncheons), you know what I’m talking about. And if you weren’t that fortunate, mark next year on your calendar. It’s worth making the effort.
