Business focus group registration underway to improve workforce development

PROVIDENCE – The Governor’s Workforce Board, in partnership with the R.I. Department of Labor and Training, is creating a plan to improve the delivery of workforce development services and is holding business focus groups as part of the process.

The Comprehensive System Improvement Plan is required by state law and will provide recommendations to produce better results for workers and businesses.
The first session – for large businesses with 100 or more employees – will be held Aug. 6 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the state Department of Labor and Training. The second session – for small businesses with fewer than 100 employees – will be held the same day from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the same location.
Sessions will be limited to 12 people in order to have an “in-depth discussion,” according to the board. Also, only one person per business can attend.
“This is a unique opportunity to contribute your ideas and perspective on Rhode Island’s workforce development system and how to improve it,” a news release from the Governor’s Workforce Board states.
Registration can be found HERE. Deadline is July 24.
