Employees at DiSanto, Priest & Co. eat well.

There are pancakes for Fat Tuesday, French toast Fridays, baseball-stadium food on family nights, ice cream socials, and New England-themed summer parties with clam chowder, clam cakes and Del’s Lemonade.

Families are encouraged to get together to watch the company’s summer softball-team games. Local, fresh produce is delivered to employees’ desks. And staff enjoys an appreciation breakfast.

“Our people go through some pretty rigorous schedules through our busy season, and we thought it would be a nice appreciation for giving up part of their lives,” said Angela Paolino, director of human resources, about the staff-appreciation breakfast, during which bosses serve employees on tables with white tablecloths.

DiSanto, Priest & Co. is a full-service, professional advisory firm that takes pride in developing a comprehensive approach to clients’ personal and corporate tax, accounting and financial needs. Based in Warwick, the firm employs 60 people.

One of the largest CPA firms in Rhode Island, DiSanto conducts 60 percent of its annual business between mid-January and Tax Day.

“There is no way around working long hours during that stretch of time,” said Emilio N. Colapietro, the firm’s managing partner. “We do these things to make it a more soothing environment during that time of year.”

Bonuses are awarded each May. Staff is also encouraged to work alternative hours, such as compressed workweeks or extended summer breaks.

The company also sponsors staff activities such as Penny Wars, Easter egg hunts, Crazy Hat Days, Dress-Down Days and treats during Halloween. •
