CCRI president withdraws from La. job search

WARWICK – Community College of Rhode Island President Ray DiPasquale will remain at the school after withdrawing from the search for a new higher-education commissioner in Louisiana, the school announced earlier this month.
DiPasquale was a finalist for the post, which was vacated by Rhode Island’s current Higher Education Commissioner Jim Purcell. DiPasquale went to Louisiana for an interview and spoke to Purcell before returning to Rhode Island on Oct. 8, Rhode Island Public Radio reported.
“I think it was really just about his love for his efforts here, and he’s excited about coming back to work and moving forward,” Purcell told Rhode Island Public Radio.
According to the report, a CCRI spokesman says DiPasquale was recruited to apply for the Louisiana position. He notified staff in an email that he plans to remain as CCRI president. •
