CFAR awarded $8.5M for AIDS research

PROVIDENCE – A five-year, $8.5 million National Institutes of Health grant will continue support for the Lifespan/Tufts/Brown Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) through The Miriam Hospital, its primary contracting institution.
There are more than 60 CFAR investigators from fields including virology, biostatistics and nutrition collaborating across institutions on basic science, clinical and behavior studies and translational research to advance the prevention, detection and treatment of HIV and AIDS.
Based at The Miriam Hospital, the center is one of just 21 at leading AIDS research institutions nationwide.
“The continuous funding of our center reflects the strength and excellence of our HIV/AIDS research program,” Dr. Charles C.J. Carpenter, principal investigator and founding director of the Lifespan/Tufts/Brown CFAR said in a statement. &#8226
