CIOs: Staff levels to stay level

MENLO PARK, Calif. – Most chief information officers plan to maintain their current staff levels in the second quarter, a Robert Half Technology report said on March 7.

Eighty-five percent of the chief information officers surveyed plan no change in hiring, up 15 points from the first quarter. Eight percent said they plan to expand their IT departments, while 5 percent expect cutbacks.

Sixty-five percent of the CIOs said it’s “challenging” to find skilled professionals today. Networking and IT security professionals are most in demand, followed by help desk/technical support professionals.
