CVS fundraiser to benefit St. Jude

WOONSOCKET – CVS/pharmacy is holding its annual in-store fundraiser for the 10th year to support the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Thanks and Giving campaign through Dec. 7.
The campaign is a unique holiday program to raise awareness and funds for the pioneering research and exceptional care provided at St. Jude. Since the campaign’s inception, CVS/pharmacy and its customers have raised more than $37 million to support St. Jude, which is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other deadly diseases.
CVS Caremark colleagues will encourage customers to add $1 or $3 to their purchase at the register to support the campaign. Customers shopping online at www.CVS.com/StJude will also have the opportunity to donate $1 at checkout.
“The incredible support we receive from CVS/pharmacy and their loyal customers during the St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign is critical in our fight to end childhood cancer,” said Marlo Thomas, national outreach director for St. Jude and daughter of hospital founder Danny Thomas. “CVS/pharmacy’s commitment helps us continue [our] lifesaving work while staying true to my father’s founding promise that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing and food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.”
Funds raised by CVS/pharmacy customers and colleagues during the Thanks and Giving campaign support the CVS Caremark Rehabilitation Services Center at St. Jude in Memphis, Tenn. Children with deadly diseases such as cancer may experience developmental, cognitive or physical impairments because of their illnesses as well as the treatments used to save their lives. “CVS/pharmacy is proud of its customers and colleagues who for nearly a decade have made a significant impact in the lives of children living with cancer and other deadly diseases through their generous support of the Thanks and Giving campaign,” said Eileen Howard Boone, senior vice president of corporate philanthropy and social responsibility for CVS Caremark.
