Cape Air named one of ‘America’s Best Airlines’

HYANNIS – Cape Air has been named one of “America’s Best Airlines” in Condé Nast Traveler’s readers’ choice awards.
Cape Air, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, was seventh on the list. No. 1 was Virgin America, with JetBlue, Hawaiian Airlines and Southwest Airlines, ranking second, third and fourth, respectively.

The magazine said this about Cape Air: “Summer vacationers like this airline for its frequent hops to New England resorts, such as its popular Hyannis-Nantucket run. It offers good deals thanks to its code-share partnerships with major carriers like Delta and JetBlue. In the winter, its operations shift to San Juan and the Caribbean.”
“We are thrilled to be included on a short list with such established, well?regarded, global brands,” Linda Markham, Cape Air president, said in a statement. “The fact that the recognition comes from the general public makes the accolade even more special.”

With a fleet of 83 Cessna 402s, four Britten-Norman Islanders and two ATR-42s, the employee-owned company operates up to 550 flights per day, flying more than 735,000 passengers a year.

Cape Air operates in 44 communities across the United States, including Block Island and T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, as well in the Caribbean and Micronesia. The airline started with three planes and one route.
Cape Air also operates flights under the Nantucket Airlines brand. In addition, Cape Air has ticket and baggage agreements with most major airlines.
This year’s Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards included more than 1 million votes from 77,000 readers.
