ACHC re-accredits Care Resource locations through 2019

EAST PROVIDENCE – Care Resource LLC, an East Providence-based home health agency, home care and medical supply company, announced it has been re-accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care through 2019 for its two locations, one in East Providence and one in Dartmouth, Mass. The organization serves clients in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Services approved for accreditation are home health aide, medical social services, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy and skilled nursing, the company reported.

Health care organizations participate in the accreditation process to demonstrate their ability to meet established criteria, according to the ACHC website. ACHC collaborates with industry experts to create standards to ensure that quality is maintained throughout an organization. On-site surveys are conducted every three years by industry experts, and a thorough review of organizational structure, policies and procedures; compliance with federal, state and local laws; leadership, patients’ rights and responsibilities, fiscal operations, human resource management, provision of care, patient records, quality outcomes, performance improvement, infection control and patient/employee safety is conducted. At the time of the surveys, an organization must demonstrate how it has maintained continuous compliance with the ACHC Standards for Accreditation.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has established provider requirements for home health agencies – like Care Resource – participating in Medicare programs.

“Accreditation to us means that our home health agency is represented as a credible and reputable organization dedicated to ongoing and continuous compliance with the highest national standards of quality,” Care Resource CEO Bernard F. Lambrese said in a statement. “It is very important to us and is a key benchmark for measuring our quality and operations. In addition, because the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services requires accreditation by an approved accreditor like ACHC, we will be eligible to continue participation with Medicare to serve many of our patients who rely on this federal health insurance coverage. Our entire team at Care Resource is committed to providing the best care possible and is proud of this achievement.”
