Care provider settles with Mass., 18 others

BOSTON – A provider of home nursing services for disabled children has agreed to pay more than $2.7 million to settle allegations that it failed to return overpayments it received from state Medicaid programs and federally insured health programs, and overcharged for home nursing services, Attorney General Maura Healey announced this month.

The settlement with Georgia-based Pediatric Services of America Inc. was joined by 19 other states and the federal government to resolve civil allegations that the company unlawfully withheld overpayments and overcharged for nursing services by improperly rounding up claims to the nearest whole hour.

PSA will pay the states and the federal government more than $2.7 million.

As part of the settlement, the Mass. Department of Public Health will receive more than $82,000. •
