Annette Cerilli has been appointed to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America’s Nationwide Leadership Council. Cerilli has served on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State since 2004 and is currently board president. She is also a member of the leadership-development committee. Cerilli is director of the Executive Development Center at Bryant University.
PBN: What is the National Leadership Council, and how is one selected to serve on it?
CERILLI: The council is one of the governing bodies of the National Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Network, and serves as the linkage between agency affiliates and the BBBSA National office located in Philadelphia. The council guides the development and execution of Big Brothers Big Sister’s 2014 Nationwide Strategic Direction and the Annual Agency Scorecard, as well as key initiatives such as affiliate standards, quality and outcome-based performance measurements, marketing and fundraising work and leadership and partnership development.
PBN: What will be your duties as a member of the council?
CERILLI: The council promotes engagement and communication among the affiliate agencies and BBBSA national and promotes agency quality-growth and nationwide goals. We recommend strategic priorities and ensure that national BBBSA provides needed services to the agency affiliates. We make recommendations and approve modifications to standards and best practices and evaluate process-improvement strategies that encourage data-driven, fact-based decision-making and performance management.
PBN: Is Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State planning any new initiatives for 2012? What can we expect to see from the organization in its first full year with the new name?
CERILLI: Recruiting qualified men and women to serve as a Big Brother or Sister will continue to be a top priority for 2012. Our annual gala, national and state grants and directed donations fund some of our matches, while our donation center, which collects gently used clothing and miscellaneous household items, funds the majority of matches.
