Posted 12/13/11

PROVIDENCE – Providence Community Health Centers announced its merger Wednesday with Chad Brown Health Center, a 1,300-patient non-profit community health center located in the Smith Hill section of the city.

With the addition of Chad Brown, the Providence Community Health Centers, the state’s largest primary community health center provider, has expanded its footprint of health center locations, providing care for nearly 40,000 Providence residents.

“We are excited to add Chad Brown Health Center to the Providence Community Health Center network,” said Merrill Thomas, CEO of Providence Community Health Centers. “Chad Brown has a long history of providing high-quality health care services regardless of a patient’s ability to pay, which correlates directly with [our] mission. By assuming operation of the site, we can achieve greater efficiencies while offering a quality of care that is second to none.”

Providence Community Health Centers currently operates 11 sites, including: health centers, a school-based health clinic, a dental clinic, and a clinic for the homeless.

The newly merged Chad Brown Health Center is located at 285A Chad Brown St. in Providence. The location will offer pediatrics, OB/GYN care, adult medicine, and it will serve as a site for the federal WIC nutrition program.

All Chad Brown patients will become part of the Providence Community Health Centers network.

PCHC specializes in primary health and dental care, while also offering its patients board-certified specialists in allergy/asthma, dermatology and endocrinology.
