In celebration of its 10-year anniversary, the Champions in Action program, along with WJAR-TV NBC 10 and Citizens Bank, recently held a “sail-a-bration” at the Community Boating Center in Providence, where guests enjoyed boat trips in Narragansett Bay.
Champions in Action is a program that supports and “champions” nonprofit organizations working in designated areas of social concern.
Community Boating Center, the organization’s current champion, is applying the support and $35,000 grant it received to expand its after-school and full-day summer camp sessions, provide youth with “sailorship” scholarships and build initiatives that expand water-based activities.
“Citizens Bank and NBC 10 have created a lasting network of champions, providing nonprofits with ongoing training and the opportunity to connect with their peers,” said Ned Handy, president of Citizens Bank, Rhode Island and Connecticut. “Many have gone on to grow their organizations to new heights, with some receiving national recognition for their efforts. We couldn’t be more pleased with these outcomes.” &#8226
