NEWPORT – In celebration of its 150th anniversary serving Newport County, Child & Family is hosting a Family Day on Saturday, July 16.

Keith Tavares, Child & Family’s vice president of institutional advancement, said the organization’s tenure in Rhode Island has positively impacted teens, families and the elderly.

He added: “The 150th anniversary celebration reflects on that legacy and marks a continuation of that support to preserve families, in turn strengthening the community well into the future.”

The event, which will take place above Queen Anne Square on the grounds of Newport’s Trinity Episcopal Church, will begin at 11 a.m. with the dedication of two granite benches donated by Memorial Funeral Homes featuring engravings by the John Stevens Shop. The benches will separately honor Child & Family’s history and Trinity Episcopal Church’s role in the city of Newport.
