PROVIDENCE – Citizens Bank announced this week that 10 Rhode Island nonprofit organizations will receive a total of $130,000 in contributions as part of the Citizens Helping Citizens Manage Money financial literacy initiative.

Funding recipients include:

  • United Way of Rhode Island
  • Crossroads Rhode Island
  • Amos House
  • Junior Achievement of Rhode Island
  • ONE Neighborhood Builders
  • The Capital Good Fund
  • College Visions
  • Girl Scouts of Southeastern New England
  • Social Enterprise Greenhouse
  • Year Up Providence

The Citizens Helping Citizens Manage Money program pairs the financial expertise of bankers with local nonprofits focused on financial education. Citizens will also share finance tips on Facebook and Twitter throughout National Financial Literacy Month, in addition to providing ongoing financial advice on YouTube. Citizens hopes to improve the financial knowledge of more than 220,000 Americans by the end of the year.

The organizations chosen to receive awards were selected in a competitive application process based on their success record in providing financial education programs, clear and measurable goals for the program and a demonstration to incorporate sustainability in their program plans.
