PROVIDENCE – In the first-ever coordinated gift by senior leadership members of Citizens Bank, personal donations totaling $200,000 were made to the Citizens Charitable Foundation during the December holiday season.

During a Dec. 14 event in Boston, Bruce Van Saun, chairman and chief executive officer of Citizens Bank, met with grant recipients, including Children’s Friend and Service of Providence and Food for Free, which is based in Cambridge, Mass.

“A central part of our credo is giving back to the communities where we live and work,” said Van Saun. “We know our colleagues volunteer time and give back in their local communities all year long, and we hope our contribution will help increase the impact they make to help their fellow citizens.”

According to Citizens, these donations were made to help fight hunger, provide shelter, strengthen communities and increase financial literacy.
