Citizen’s MacNamara set for sabbatical

Posted:

PROVIDENCE – Citizens Banks has chosen Ana MacNamara, officer and risk management specialist at Citizens Bank’s East Providence operations center, for a paid three-month sabbatical. McNamara will spend the next three months on loan to the Comprehensive Community Action Program, according to a press release from the bank.

The Community Service Sabbatical Program is part of Citizens Helping Citizens Give, the bank’s program for volunteerism and charitable giving.

“Community service is one of our core values at Citizens Bank and we know from our colleagues that the opportunity to bond with a community organization is often a reason they join the bank,” said Ned Handy, president of Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens, Rhode Island. “Our colleagues who have completed sabbaticals tell us that it is a life-changing experience that brings a newfound perspective to their life and career. We congratulate Ana on her sabbatical and are confident she will make the most of this opportunity to make a difference in her local community.”

Cranston-based CCAP offers programs for education, job training, affordable housing, food access, health care and human services.

“ I feel honored to be selected to do something I love. Since I am a working mother, I don’t have much personal time to devote to volunteering and this gives me an opportunity to volunteer full-time for three months,” said McNamara. “If everyone gets involved, we can truly make a difference.”

McNamara will work with several programs at CCAP, including Head Start. She will also lead banking workshops for youth and will work with financial literacy programs.
