Citizens donates $12.5K for Meeting Street telethon

PROVIDENCE – Citizens Financial Group has donated $12,500 to Meeting Street’s 40th annual telethon, scheduled for Jan. 30.
The telethon will be held on Meeting Street campuses here and in Dartmouth, Mass. WPRI-TV 12 broadcasts the telethon, the nonprofit’s largest annual fundraiser, live.
Citizens Chairman and CEO Bruce Van Saun and Citizens Rhode Island State President Marc Paulhus presented a check to Meeting Street’s President and CEO John Kelly in mid-October.
Citizens Bank has supported the Meeting Street telethon for more than 12 years and has been supporting the entire organization for more than 40 years.
Held from 7 to 11 p.m., the telethon’s purpose is to raise funds to sustain Meeting Street programming for nearly 4,000 children and families. These include early intervention, the Early Learning Center, the K-6th grade Grace School and the middle and high school programming at the Carter School.
The telethon attracts nearly 30,000 viewers, and over 450 guests are anticipated this coming year. Guests who attend will participate in activities in the Meeting Street gym, enjoy refreshments, view the online auction items in person, and meet some of the Meeting Street children and their families.
The event is free and open to the public.
