WARWICK – Forty banners have been installed throughout the 95-acre City Centre Warwick, part of a marketing and branding effort designed to draw attention to the redevelopment district.
The banners include a variety of slogans describing the mixed-use district, which includes the transit links of T.F. Green Airport and the InterLink train and bus station. Messages include: “Explore New England’s Transit-Oriented Development Hub” and “Live Work Play.”
Mayor Scott Avedisian and state officials announced the marketing effort on Monday.
R.I. Department of Transportation received $400,000 in a federal grant to finance the marketing program, which also includes development of brand identity, a website and market analysis for City Centre Warwick.
In a statement, Avedisian said recent announcements of pending development in the district, including a $50 million four-story mixed use project to replace the Elizabeth Mill, are an indication of interest and momentum in the district.
“While construction of these projects will be a visible sign of job creation and revitalization of the area, the banners will stand – for residents and visitors alike – as a strong symbol of our vision for the area – a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly mixed-use neighborhood in which to live and work,” he said.
