City accepting Dexter grant applications

PROVIDENCE – The city is accepting grant applications for the Dexter Donation charitable fund through April 1, Mayor Jorge O. Elorza said.
The Dexter Donation is a trust established in 1824 under the will of philanthropist Ebenezer Knight to provide grants to organizations working to addressing the needs of the city’s most vulnerable residents.
“The Dexter Donation fund is an enduring resource to the organizations and community groups that serve our city’s residents every day,” Elorza said. “I encourage eligible organizations to apply, and look forward to distributing this year’s donations in accordance with philanthropic best practices.”
Nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations that serve Providence residents are eligible to apply. Faith-based organizations may submit applications for any non-sectarian programs they administer.
The Dexter Donation grant application is available at the city clerk’s office in City Hall, or online at the city’s website, www.providenceri.com/dexter. Completed applications must be received by the city by 4 p.m. April 1.
