PROVIDENCE – There’s going to be a clam shack in downtown Providence this spring.

Blount Fine Foods, the locally based seafood business, will open a Blount Clam Shack and Soup Bar at 371 Richmond St. in Providence by early spring.

There will be a hot soup bar, with unlimited soup and fresh bread, as well as salads, sandwiches and other items, the company said in a news release. A retail area will offer fresh chowders, and soups and dips for take-home purchases. Delivery and catering will also be available from the establishment, which will be open year round.

There is a year-round Blount clam shack in Fall River, and seasonal ones in Warren and Riverside.

In a news release, Blount touted its New England clam chowder and lobster bisque, clam cakes, fish and chips, whole belly clams, lobster rolls, and non-traditional seafood specialties such as fish reubens and fish tacos.
