Posted 11/19/12

BOSTON – Attorney General Martha Coakley announced last week Jennifer Stark has been appointed as Business and Labor Bureau chief, while Deputy Chief of Staff Britte McBride will oversee the office’s Policy and Government Division.

Stark has led the Policy and Government Division for five years, spearheading the attorney general’s legislative and policy agenda. In a statement, Coakley credited her with helping develop and pass significant pieces of legislation, including laws to reduce energy costs, combat human trafficking, protect homeowners and update the False Claims Act.

Stark will oversee five divisions of the office, including: the Energy and Telecommunications Division, the Business Technology and Economic Development Division, the Medicaid Fraud Division, the Fair Labor Division, and the Public Charities Division.

Replacing Stark, Deputy Chief of Staff Britte McBride will oversee the Policy and Government Division. McBride previously has served as senior policy adviser in P&G and director of open government. Coakley said that as deputy, she has been a key adviser to the attorney general while overseeing the office’s implementation of the HomeCorps program leading efforts to support veterans, and developing initiatives around mental health care. •
