Collette Cares launches literacy program

PAWTUCKET – Collette Cares, Collette’s philanthropic arm, has launched a program in Rhode Island entitled Learning Explorers to improve youth literacy in the state.
Learning Explorers is designed to make a deeper impact on youth literacy in Rhode Island. To begin the program, Collette is supplying their first nonprofit partner, Blackstone Valley Prep Mayoral Academy, with a $20,000 grant in order to help foster and celebrate the love of reading in the school’s youth.
This new, on-going relationship with the school will supply the funding this summer to purchase books for the fall when the kids return to school. Collette employees will then be involved with reading activities and unique programming throughout the year to keep them engaged, said Nicole Diebold, senior manager of corporate giving at Collette.
Collette expects the program to lead to measureable outcomes that show it is aiding in the improvement of skills and confidence in local children. Learning Explorers also will provide volunteer opportunities to Collette employees throughout the year within the new program.
“We will continue raising money for the school,” said Diebold. “Throughout the year, Collette employees give back through ‘dress down’ dollars and other fundraising ideas, which will be used to fund future programs at the school.”
