Commerce launches center to help businesses grow

PROVIDENCE – The R.I. Commerce Corp. has launched a new Business Navigation Center and website for firms looking to do business in the Ocean State.

“This center will serve as a one-stop shop for existing business looking to grow and new businesses looking to move here, making government an effective partner in promoting innovation and creating jobs,” Gov. Gina M. Raimondo said in a statement last week.

The center has five advisers on staff ready to help any startup or existing business. Based on the information received, the adviser will guide the client to solutions to address business needs.

Businesses can use the center for business planning, prequalifying for a business loan, applying for certifications for government contracts, locating a business site, entering the international market and connecting with university business-engagement centers and the R.I. Department of Labor and Training. •
