To raise awareness of senior hunger, Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I, and David Casey, vice president of workforce strategies and chief diversity officer of CVS Caremark Corp., recently pitched in with Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island’s March for Meals campaign.

Last month, the pair joined the organization’s executive director, Heather Amaral, to deliver hot and nutritious meals to homebound seniors. The trio helped serve some of the state’s more than 2,500 seniors that Meals on Wheels provides meals to each year.

“Hunger within our senior population is an issue, both nationally and here in Rhode Island,” Reed said. “March for Meals is a great opportunity to increase awareness so people of all ages can come together and create change.”

Casey’s company, CVS Caremark, was the premier sponsor of the campaign.

“This program aligns nicely with our company purpose of helping people on their path to better health by supporting our local seniors in need and addressing the issues they face on a daily basis,” said Eileen Howard Boone, senior vice president of corporate communications and community relations. •
