PROVIDENCE – A truck driver has pleaded guilty to his role in a scheme to steal $430,000 worth of cooking oil from restaurants in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, the Associated Press reported.
Anthony Simone Sr. pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and interstate transportation of stolen property on Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Providence, according to the AP report published by the Concord Monitor in New Hampshire.
Prosecutors said Simone drove a truck to the restaurants between midnight and six a.m. and pump the cooking oil into a tank, the AP reported. The oil was then sold to a New Hampshire business for use as animal feed and biofuel.
Simone allegedly worked for brothers Andrew and Bruce Jeremiah of Cranston, who have pleaded not guilty to the same charges.
