Last year’s Get Started R.I. winner was Food4Good, a food truck in Providence that will sell lunch and dinner on weekdays and act as a mobile soup kitchen on weekends. It is set to launch later this summer.

“Cox Business is passionate about supporting local small business growth, and what better place to focus than the start-ups that need resources and support the most,” Ross Nelson, vice president of Cox Business, said in a statement. “Get Started R.I. is a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to learn from our expert panel and from one another.”

Get Started R.I. applicants must provide a 250 word or less description of their proposed product or service pitch. The deadline to enter is 12:01 a.m. on July 24.

The five finalists selected will have two minutes to pitch their business idea to the expert panel on Sept. 24 at the Harbor Lights Country Club in Warwick, and will receive immediate feedback. The panelists will then determine the winning pitch based on innovation, ease of implementation and the benefit it brings to the local community.
