The story of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s psychological novel, “Crime and Punishment” comes to life on Trinity Repertory Co.’s stage with performances through Sunday, Feb. 24. Directed by Brian Mertes, the production condenses the 500-page novel into a 90-minute play that tells of the story’s cat-and-mouse game between a murderer, his psyche and a homicide detective. The play’s three-person cast features TV, film and stage actor Dan Butler as Porfiry, Trinity Rep. resident company member Stephen Thorne as Raskolnikov and actress Rachel Christopher as Sonia.
