Pat Sabatino had been planning Datarista since 2009.
A 32-year veteran of the technology industry, Sabatino described the company he founded in July 2015 as a “router for data.”
Acting as a middleman software, or “middleware,” Datarista sits between a company and multiple cloud platforms connecting its data to the appropriate outlet.
Sabatino said he remembers a lot of time spent with “a PowerPoint and a dream.” However, in the Providence company’s first year he has hired seven employees and prepped for a live product launch this month.
The company has received $350,000 from the Slater Technology Fund. The funding was part of a $1 million seed round.
There’s been a “positive level of excitement,” in anticipation of the launch, Sabatino said. “[We’re] signing up customers and taking prepayments on a product that isn’t even complete. It’s not a bad place to be.” •
