Why did you select your profession?

Cancer medicine gives me the ability to share in people’s lives and help them through the toughest time in their lives.

Where do you see yourself professionally in 10 years?

I see myself conducting clinical research and teaching the new generation of cancer physicians.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever been given?

My grandmother told me that she couldn’t imagine me not being a doctor.

What advice would you give your 22-year-old self?

Don’t rush into things. They will come at the right time.

What is your favorite escape or hobby?

I love traveling all over the world. It keeps me grounded to see how things work in other parts of the world.

How do you keep a work-life balance?

It is not easy being a physician. I think the trick is to give 100 percent while in the office or hospital so that I can focus on my wife and daughter when I get home.

What one thing in your professional life would you like a do-over on?

If everything I did took me to where I am right now, then I have nothing to change. •
