Why did you select your profession?

Helping others was innate in me. I feel responsible for the well-being of others. Funny as it is, it got me into trouble several times until I found my calling of being a physician. As you can imagine, I encounter my own problems and imperfections, humbling my view of us humans and allowing me to empathize with others’ challenges.

Where do you see yourself professionally in 10 years?

Teaching geriatrics and internal medicine, involving myself in a community. As a Latino it is my impression we should all be more involved with our youth and their older family members – those struggling to become a functional part of this country.
