Assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery – Alpert Medical School of Brown University; Attending staff
physician – Rhode Island and the Miriam hospitals, University Orthopedics Inc.
Age: 34

Why did you select your profession?
I was attracted to orthopaedic surgery because of the beauty of the anatomy and the logical, mechanical nature of bone carpentry. I fell in love with total-joint-replacement surgery during my residency after seeing these incredible procedures have such an enormously positive impact on quality of life.

What advice would you give your 22-year-old self?
Don’t get sidetracked by “short-term” thinking. Keep working toward your long-term goals and know that there is indeed a light at the end of the tunnel.

What is your favorite Rhode Island escape or hobby?
I have quickly grown to love red pizza slices, Rhode Island clam chowder and ice-cold Del’s lemonade!

How do you keep a work-life balance?
Friday night dinner has been a longstanding tradition in my family; my wife and I get to slow down and reconnect with each other and our two children, while giving thanks for our blessings. •
