Draft state plan for Alzheimer’s now online

PROVIDENCE – A draft state plan to address Alzheimer’ disease and related disorders has been completed and can be viewed online, according to state officials.
The draft plan, prepared at the request of the R. I General Assembly, was prepared under the direction of Lt. Gov. Elizabeth H. Roberts and R.I. Elderly Affairs Director Catherine Taylor, in partnership with the R.I. Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Public feedback is welcomed, with a 10-day public comment period ending on June 20.
“One of the best ways to ensure that we as a state address the most pressing issues facing caregivers and loved ones of those affected by this devastating family of diseases is to have their feedback and input to the draft plan,” Roberts said.
The draft plan is organized into six major sections, each one focused around the work of six subgroups that were developed to break down the scope of work: caregivers, access, legal, workforce, long-term care, and care delivery and research.
