DUFFY & SWEENEY attorney Tyler Ray finished the Ironman triathlon, which consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile marathon, in 12 hours, 24 minutes and 41 seconds.

Duffy & Sweeney, a legal-counsel firm in Providence, recently matched 50 percent of employee contributions to attorney Tyler Ray’s Ironman Triathlon fundraiser totaling $1,330 in donations from the company.
“The challenges I faced preparing for the Ironman pushed me outside my comfort zone, both physically and mentally. In such a long race, it comes down to being patient, executing a plan and managing the unexpected, all critical components of my business-law practice. Although crossing the finish line was an amazing feeling, the experience of training to get to race day – the daily grind – was perhaps more valuable and rewarding than the goal itself. I am thankful for Duffy & Sweeney’s support and our combined ability to raise funds to fight breast cancer,” said Ray.
Ironman athletes raise funds as part of their race experience for a nonprofit of their choice. More than 90 donors helped Ray raise a total of $5,826, which was distributed to Susan G. Komen, one of the most widely known breast cancer foundations in the country. •
