Dunkin’ Donuts, center team for promotion

PROVIDENCE – Dunkin’ Donuts is partnering with the Rhode Island Blood Center this month by giving out $5 gift cards for store purchases to those who give blood or platelets at drives at any of the center’s six locations.
The “Dunkin Donors Make a Difference” campaign is under way in an effort to help boost blood donations during National Volunteer Blood Donor Month. The company kicked off the campaign recently at a newly remodeled outlet at 1592 Mineral Spring Ave. in North Providence.
“The ‘Dunkin Donors Make a Difference’ campaign and gift card give generous donors more options and also appeals to the preferences of a wide variety of blood donors,” said Joe Prazeres, Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee. “We’re proud to partner with the Blood Center to thank blood donors this January and to help ensure a sufficient blood supply.”
The gift card can be used toward the purchase of any item at participating Dunkin’ Donuts. The card also is reloadable and can be used to enroll in the store’s rewards program.
National Blood Donor Month began in January 1970 to help assure a safe and adequate blood supply at a time of year when blood collection is typically more difficult because of school vacations, holidays, inclement weather and illness.
“With the support of Dunkin’ Donuts, we can help ensure donations are keeping pace with the needs of patients and hospitals this winter, while recognizing blood donors for the heroes they are,” said Eric St. Peter, account manager for the Rhode Island Blood Center.
Dunkin’ Donuts partners with the Blood Center throughout the year by hosting numerous blood drives at its various Rhode Island locations, and supporting important media drives at critical times of the year, he added.
