Local Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees recently awarded $68,985 to two Special Olympics organizations, with $36,562.05 given to Special Olympics Rhode Island. The funds were raised through the National Coffee Day promotion, in which 25 cents of each cup of coffee sold that day was donated.

Dunkin’ Donuts has been a supporter of Special Olympics since 1988, serving as a sponsor of Special Olympics Rhode Island’s annual winter and summer games, as well as competitions held in the south section of Special Olympics Massachusetts. In addition, Dunkin’ Donuts is the premier sponsor of Special Olympics Rhode Island Team USA, which competes nationally and internationally.

“For more than 20 years, our partnership with the Special Olympics has grown exponentially, and we are more inspired by the courage, dedication and spirit of each Special Olympic athlete now than ever,” said local Dunkin’ Donuts franchisee Joe Dutra. “We thank our loyal customers who join us each year to help raise funds for this wonderful organization.” •
